Environmental Labelling

Legislative Decree No. 116 of 3 September 2020, which implements EU Directive 2018/851 on wasteand Directive (EU) 2018/852 on packaging and packaging waste, requires that all packaging (primary, secondary, and tertiary) must be labelled by producers to identify and classify the type of packaging material used, in accordance with Commission Decision 97/129/EC.

On 21 November 2022, Ministerial Decree No. 360 360 of 28 September 2022 was published, introducing the Guidelines on Environmental Labelling to ensure proper compliance with packaging labelling obligations by responsible parties. In accordance with the principles of the free movement of goods, the Guidelines emphasize the option to use digital channels, which may either fully replace or supplement the mandatory information printed directly on the packaging.
